Larry Tai Chew

Larry Tai Chew was born into a service background. Son of immigrants from China, his parents had a shop on Siparia Old Road where he was born and lived with six other siblings. To this day, he remains a South boy, moving first to Point Fortin, then to San Fernando, and settling with his own family in South Oropouche.

"My wife tells me that I'll never retire from this job" says Larry. "It's not work for me! When I sit with people from all different walks of life, I just don't discuss business, I discuss every aspect of their lives and we usually become friends. There is no separation from one to the other." Larry likes to offer his clients a one-stop shop where all their life and general insurance needs can be met. And then there is the friendship part, which has an indefinable worth.

In the beginning of his career, his sister, the late Debra Chan who recruited him, asked Larry what motivated him: Awards? Recognition? Larry's response is humble for one who has achieved so much. "I just want to work and achieve a decent living for my family."
